Shearwater said on Wednesday that the project was scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2020.

The four-month survey covers 2,000 square kilometers of 3D in a shallow-water area of the Arabian Sea.

Irene Waage Basili, the CEO of Shearwater GeoServices, said: “We are pleased to receive this second award for the coming season in India. Multiple awards in India support high utilization of our vessels in Asia.”

This contract award follows last month’s announcement of a combined 2D and 3D broadband marine seismic survey for ONGC off the East Coast of India.

The survey was set for execution in the first half of 2020. It covers 1,600 square kilometers of 3D and 800 kilometers of 2D data in a deepwater area of the Bay of Bengal.

It is also worth reminding that Shearwater recently expanded its fleet following completion of a transaction with CGG including the takeover of five seismic vessels and the five-year capacity agreement for marine seismic acquisition services. The transaction included five streamer vessels and two legacy vessels previously owned by CGG and Eidesvik Offshore.
