Subsea Cables UK Announces Conference in March

Subsea Cables UK, the trade association for submarine power and telecommunications cables for the United Kingdom and Northern Europe, has announced its 44th Plenary.

The Plenary will be held at The Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin, ROI, hosted by Sea Fibre Networks.

The Plenary will be held over 1.5 days on the 4th/5th March 2015, with a networking dinner on the evening of the 4th.

Upwards of 60 delegates from Subsea Cables UK membership: submarine cable system owners, maintenance authorities, system manufacturers, cable ship operators, consultants and submarine cable route survey companies from many different countries, will discuss and exchange technical, legal and environmental information affecting the industry. Attendance to this event is free to all members.

Confirmed speakers on the agenda include:

Clemens Pohl (AP Sensing GmbH) – ‘High Voltage subsea cable monitoring & real time thermal rating’;

Professor Andrew Ellis (Aston Photonic Technologies, Aston University) – ‘When Moore’s Law and Shannon’s Theorom Collide’;

Derek Cassidy (BT Networks and Optical Engineering Division) – ‘Ireland and its changing communication environment’;

Mike Bland (Section Head of the General Licensing Section of Marine Scotland) – ‘Marine licensing of subsea cables in Scottish waters’;

Other speakers are Peter Barham – Liaison Officer, Aaron Mair – Fishing Industry Consultant, together with updates from the Chairman, Secretary and Sub-group Chairmen.
