Witt Energy gets new CEO

UK-based developer of technology that converts motional energy into electricity, Witt Energy, has appointed Ron Cowley as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Cowley took up the position on June 1, 2017, bringing in years of experience as CEO and Managing Director of international technology businesses, Witt Energy informed.

“Ron has a very strong technical background of design and manufacturing of bearings, gear boxes, and complex technology systems.

“He is uniquely placed to understand Witt and its needs, to develop strategies, goals and plans to maximize stakeholder value and returns,” Witt Energy said.

Witt Energy’s technology converts motional energy into electricity, with potential application as a wave energy converter.

Witt’s technology utilizes a 3D pendulum which drives the transmission system, converting all motion, in any combination of the six degrees of freedom, into a single unidirectional rotation of a flywheel, to produce electricity.

The company has manufactured and tested a 200-Watt Marine WITT prototype at the Southampton University in mid-September.

The 200-Watt Marine WITT is expected to provide autonomous power for large-scale survival units, desalination, offshore fish farms and a range of products that need a constant power source, by harnessing the power from seas, rivers or tides.
