World Fuel Services (WFS) has welcomed a new supply vessel to its chartered-in fleet in an effort to “continue strengthening its logistical operations”.

The 3,100 dwt product tanker Whitstar was deployed in early September 2018 to operate along the east and south coast with the task of servicing UK terminals.

Built in 2004, the 75-meter-long ship is owned by UK’s Whitaker Tankers.

It is fitted with deep well pumps capable of delivering fuel in volumes of up to 450m3/hr. The vessel also hosts epoxy coated cargo tanks, closed loading and has tank level radars fitted and its hull is also strengthened to enable access to NAABSA berths.

As explained, this latest addition to the WFS-operated tanker fleet is large enough to keep storage terminals topped up but small enough to deliver bunkers to vessels.

In chartering this vessel, greater control of the supply chain has been achieved with enhanced flexibility and versatility, WFS said.

Headquartered in Florida, WFS is engaged in the distribution of fuel and related products and services in the aviation, marine and land commercial, industrial and transportation industries.
