Drydocks World Dubai Delivers *WG Cook* Seismic Vessel to WesternGeco

The geophysical service company WesternGeco received their new Ulstein SX124 design vessel ‘WG Cook’ from Drydocks World – Dubai (DWD) on 2 August.

The ultra modern high capacity 12-streamer 3-D seismic vessel is the second of this design built at DWD for WesternGeco.

‘WG Cook’ measures 90.5 metres (length), 19 metres (width), and 6.6 metres (depth). The diesel-electric propelled, DPII class vessel incorporates many features to enhance performance and complies with the SPS requirements for up to 60 persons, and DNV Clean Design to ensure minimum emissions.

The ‘WG Cook’ is the final in a series of six Ulstein designed vessels to WesternGeco. Four have been constructed at Barreras in Spain, and two at DWD.

“We have been happy to deliver the designs for six vessels of three different designs to WesternGeco. We believe the vessels will prove to be eco-friendly and energy efficient in their future seismic work”, says Tore Ulstein, head of Design & Solutions at Ulstein Group.

WesternGeco is a business segment of Schlumberger and one of the world´s leading geophysical services company.

Glossary:
