Infinera Appoints New VP of Subsea Business Group

Infinera has named Scott Jackson as vice president, responsible for overseeing the Infinera Subsea Business Group.

In this role Jackson will focus on enabling subsea network operators to maximize capacity and reach on their subsea cables, reduce operational expense, and to deploy services faster than competing systems, the company explained.

Jackson has more than 31 years of experience directing teams from concept to delivery over a broad range of technology areas.

Jackson’s experience includes 18 years at Bell Labs Submarine Systems, later Tyco Undersea Systems, where as a managing director, he led development of undersea repeaters and later undersea terminal equipment. He also served as vice president and general manager for the Finisar NJ Transmission Technology Center, vice president of engineering for Kodeos Communications, vice president of engineering for Defense Photonics Group, and most recently, chief technical officer for 4D Security Solutions.

“We are delighted to have Scott on board to lead our subsea business group,” said Tom Fallon, Infinera CEO. “His expertise in high-complexity opto-electronic technology and submarine transmission systems will help accelerate Infinera’s development of enhanced solutions for subsea, a vital part of long-haul telecom and content networks.”
