Mermaid Maritime picks up Middle East subsea services deal

Offshore vessel provider Mermaid Maritime has been awarded a subsea services contract in the Middle East with an initial contract value of $17 million.

Mermaid said that the contract was awarded to the company’s Middle East business unit by a company from a GCC country. GCC stands for the Gulf Cooperation Council, a political and economic alliance of six countries in the Arabian Peninsula: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The company added that the contract duration was for 180 days, beginning in May through to October 2019.

The project will involve the use of the DP2 dive support vessel Mermaid Endurer which is equipped with a saturation, air dive, and ROV systems carrying out the DSV campaign for an undisclosed international EPCI contractor in a GCC country.

Mermaid also said that the contract was in alignment with the company’s ambitious strategy to expand its client base in its Middle East core market.

The previous time Offshore Energy Today reported on the Mermaid Endurer was in July when the vessel was awarded a subsea services contract with an initial contract value of $16 million, also in the Middle East.

The contract entailed work in a GCC country in the Arabian Gulf starting in August 2018 until March 2019.
