Repsol Sinopec awards more time to Prosafe’s flotel

Repsol Sinopec Resources UK, formerly Talisman Sinopec Energy UK, has exercised further options to extend the charter for Prosafe’s flotel Safe Boreas.

Prosafe informed on Monday that the extension is for a total of 17 days.

The firm operational period of the Safe Boreas at Montrose A in the UK sector of the North Sea is now through February 27, 2017, with Prosafe continuing with the reduced option periods’ dayrate consistent with market conditions, the company added.

Repsol Sinopec has the ability to extend the Safe Boreas further through weekly options.

Prosafe’s 2015-built flotel is supporting the complex next four phases of the Montrose Area Redevelopment (MAR) project that sees the significant modification and expansion of the existing Montrose Area infrastructure including the development of three new fields: Godwin, Cayley and Shaw.

The Safe Boreas started its 245-day firm operational period at Montrose A in mid-March 2016. In mid-January 2017 the accommodation rig got a 14-day extension.

Safe Boreas, of a GVA 3000E design, was built at Jurong Shipyard in Singapore. The unit has the capacity to accommodate 450 persons in single man cabins.
