VideoRay, WFS to Jointly Promote Pro 4 Seatooth System (UK)

VideoRay and WFS Technologies announced a formal co-marketing agreement to jointly promote their Pro 4 seatooth® wirelessly – enabled data gathering system. The new partnership will enable low cost and low risk underwater ROV based wireless data gathering.

This partnership brings together two global leaders in underwater technology: VideoRay, the largest volume producer of underwater ROVs in the world, and WFS Technologies, the global leader in the delivery of subsea wireless instrumentation and control solutions to the Offshore Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy industries.

The Pro 4 seatooth® “plug and play” accessory incorporates an s100 compact wireless modem from WFS with the VideoRay Pro 4, the most advanced, capable, and versatile small Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) on the market today. The Pro 4 ROV can accommodate lightweight instrumentation so the s100 modem is easily attached to the vehicle without compromising buoyancy or hydrodynamics. Once the system is submerged and piloted near the data source, the wirelessly retrieved data is either sent to the surface real time via the ROV’s umbilical or can be logged in the s100’s internal memory.

The VideoRay Pro 4 has a host of advanced internal features that position it above other vehicles in its class such as a 3D tilt compensated compass, Accelerometer, MEM S Gyro, internal leak alarm, internal temperature gauge, real time volt meter, and depth readout. These features are designed to make the pilot’s life easier and give advance warning in the case of an issue with the vehicle.

The s100 is part of the WFS seatooth® family of subsea modems that transmit data and video through water and through the water – air boundary. Compact and lightweight, the s100 wireless modem is suitable for a variety of underwater applications from 100m – 4000m depth, with an optional integrated memory for data logging. Based on subsea radio frequency technology, the s100 will provide reliable digital wireless data transmission up to 2.4 kbps as standard, up to a range of 5m in challenging water conditions and with no physical wet – mate connection.

VideoRay aims to make all its technology “plug and play,” enabling the quick and easy installation of additional capabilities without the system returning to the factory. The s100 also embraces this ideal. The modem has standard interfaces for wireless data communication with underwater vehicles, and can be “plugged in” and operational with minimum integration.

Combining these two technologies expands the capability of both products, resulting in an easily deployed and recovered data – gathering vehicle system for surveys, inspections, and simple intervention missions.

The Pro 4 seatooth® system will be on display at the VideoRay ROV display tank in outdoor booth 511 at Offshore Technology Conference 2013 in Houston, Texas May 6 – 9, 2013.
