Polarcus lands another 3D marine seismic shoot

Marine seismic acquisition company Polarcus has received a letter of intent for a 3D marine seismic acquisition in Europe.

The seismic company said on Friday that it will be utilizing its XArray multiple source acquisition method to deliver the broadband dataset. This will be the company’s eighth XArray survey so far.

The Polarcus XArray is an acquisition configuration developed by Polarcus to deliver ‘superior’ data quality and make full use of today’s larger streamer spreads. According to Polarcus, it improves both in-line shots by 100- 250 percent and cross-line bin density by up to 400 percent on any streamer separation and can be tailored to provide higher fold data, increase crossline sampling and improve acquisition efficiency.

This is the third 3D marine seismic project for Polarcus in quick succession. Just last week, the company was awarded an XArray survey offshore Australia while an Australasian project was announced on Thursday, September 22.

As with the two previous projects, Polarcus has not revealed the identity of its client, financial terms regarding the contract or any other details regarding the survey.

However, the company did say that the project is due to start in the fourth quarter of 2016 and that it will run for approximately one month.
