Wood Group completes Leviathan FEED

Aberdeen-based LNG engineer Wood Group completed the front-end engineering design (FEED) for Noble Energy’s Leviathan field development project in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.

The company said on Thursday that it started the detailed engineering for the platform, including the topsides and jacket, at a contract value of approximately US$95 million.

The estimated 30,000 ton fixed platform is being initially designed to process 1.2 Bcf/d of gas, expandable to 2.1Bcf/d to accommodate future production.

Partners in the Leviathan gas field project reached the final investment decision for the development of the first phase (Phase 1A) in the development plan of the Leviathan gas field.

The Leviathan partners intend to start piping the natural gas from the Leviathan reservoir by the end of 2019.

The Leviathan project is operated by Noble Energy with a 39.66 percent working interest, with other interest owners being Delek Drilling with 22.67 percent, Avner Oil Exploration with 22.67 percent, and Ratio Oil Exploration (1992) Limited Partnership with the remaining 15 percent.
